The Salem Police Department and the City of Salem are excited to announce that Chief Mary Butler will be officially sworn in as Chief of Police on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 10:00 am at Old Town Hall. The ceremony will include remarks from several local officials and Chief Butler. The ceremony is open to the public and free of charge.
Chief Butler has been the acting Chief of the Department since her appointment was announced several weeks ago. Chief Butler joined the Salem Police in 1987 and has held the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Acting Captain. She has worked in the Patrol Division, Detectives Division, Special Operations Division, and served as an administrative aid to a former chief.
